Venetian Plaster

Venetian Plaster is a time-honored technique that was developed by the Ancient Egyptians. It was turned into an art by the Greeks and later perfected by the Italians during the Renaissance. The product is made from lime mixed with unheated, crushed limestone. Applied with a spatula and trowel, and then burnished, it creates a smooth surface with the illusion of depth and texture. Venetian Plaster is very versatile. When applied in the traditional way, it has a very slick urban quality. When done with a distressing technique, it can achieve infinitely textured finishes ranging from old world stucco to walls that look like linen. A natural, eco-friendly product, Venetian Plaster is valued for its mold and mildew resistance.

Of all the finishing techniques, this is the one that gives us the most enjoyment to create and provides the greatest satisfaction to our clients.
